        1. (a) (as defined in article 1 of the ISD) a market for the instruments listed in Section B of the Annex to the ISD which:29
          1. (i) appears on the list of such markets drawn up by the market's Home State as required by article 16 of the ISD;29
          1. (ii) functions regularly;29
          1. (iii) is characterised by the fact that regulations issued or approved by the competent authorities define the conditions for the operation of the market, the conditions for access to the market and, where Directive 79/279/EEC is applicable, the conditions governing admission to listing imposed in that Directive and, where that Directive is not applicable, the conditions that must be satisfied by a financial instrument before it can effectively be dealt in on the market; and29
          1. (iv) requires compliance with all the reporting and transparency requirements laid down by articles 20 and 21 of the ISD;29
          (see Tables 1 and 2 of SUP 17 Annex 5 G for an indicative list of these markets); and 29
        1. (b) (in SUP 17 and, unless the context otherwise requires, elsewhere in the Handbook) a market notified under article 16 of the ISD, as included in point 30b of Annex IX to the Agreement of the European Economic Area, to the Standing Committee of the EFTA States as defined in that agreement;29 (see Tables 3 and 4 of SUP 17 Annex 5 G for an indicative list of these markets).29
      1. (2) (in46INSPRU46 ) 2934:
        1. (a) 2934a market as defined in (1); and34
        1. (b) 2934a market situated outside the EEA States which is characterised by the fact that:34
          1. (i) 34it meets comparable requirements to those set out in (1)(a)(ii), (iii) and (iv); and3429
          1. (ii) 2934the financial instruments dealt in are of a quality comparable to those in a regulated market in the United Kingdom.34
          1. (in accordance with article 4(1)(14) of MiFID) a multilateral system operated and/or managed by a market operator, which brings together or facilitates the bringing together of multiple third-party buying and selling interests in financial instruments - in the system and in accordance with its non-discretionary rules - in a way that results in a contract, in respect of the financial instruments admitted to trading under its rules and/or systems, and which is authorised and functions regularly and in accordance with the provisions [Title III of MiFID].
